Xavier Jean-Louis

Hello everyone, my name is Xavier Jean-Louis. I am about to enter my second year at the university and I am currently studying business administration. I am from Montreal, Canada and I am new to Alaska. In terms of art, I don't have a lot of experience. I enjoy music and sports and am looking forward to learning about a new side of art that I have not explored yet. Excited to see and comment on my peers' work and get started.



Vincent Van Gogh The Starry night


I chose this piece because I did a project on it when I was in middle school and I have always been very interested in it. I am curious about what new intel i can get from this piece.


I don't really have a relationship or experience  with art. Like I said in my introduction, I like the art of music and sport and haven't really got into the drawing and sculpting part. I am curious to learn more about it. I have been to many art museums. I usually enjoy those activities even though I'm very inexperienced with that form of art.

    New intel on Van Gogh. One of the most interesting revisionist history views was in the 2017 movie "Loving Vincent" I highly recommend it. I had to go to an art museum to see it when it was released. Unfortunately it isn't streamed anywhere.

    Art and Scientific Discovery in the 1700’ I chose to present the topic of “Art and Scientific Discovery in the 1700s” because it has a lot to cover and offer. It was a period that saw significant progress not only in the arts but also in the science sector. This period is referred to as the Enlightenment and influenced artists across the world which led to the emergence of new genres such as neoclassicism, rococo, and romanticism. Those three genres revived classic art principles by bringing back elegance as well as emphasizing individual emotions in the natural world. Scientific discoveries were a huge help in making those paintings realistic and relatable.
